The revolutionary Genie SX-180 boom lift was launched in 2014 and immediately set new standards for the access equipment industry. Boasting an astonishing maximum platform height of 54.86m (180 ft), the Genie SX-180 quickly made a worldwide name for itself in the oil and gas industries, and the mining and construction sectors. Access Hire Australia has acquired three Genie SX-180 booms since the Australian launch of the product, and the booms have proved to be a high demand unit in their extensive fleet of access equipment.
Two SX-180 boom lifts are currently on-site at the INPEX Ichthys LNG Project, ranked amongst the most significant oil and gas projects in the world. The mammoth project has an operational life of at least 40 years and is currently in the fourth phase, development, after the successfully completed phases of acquisition, exploration and drilling.
Another SX-180 boom lift has been deployed to the Chevron Gorgon Project on Barrow Island, which is the largest onshore oil field in Australia and also home to other access equipment from Access Hire’s fleet. The remote project specialists have such a presence on-site that there are five dedicated full-time technicians stationed on the island, ensuring the major project is never stalled due to costly breakdowns. Access Hire’s fleet also includes a sub-hired Genie SX-180 to ensure customers’ needs are met.
The long-term hire of Access Hire’s three Genie SX-180 boom lifts reaffirms the company’s position as the trusted market leader and remote project specialists in the Australian access equipment industry. Access Hire forms part of Access Group Australia, the nation’s largest privately owned company of its kind. With an extensive branch network covering Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales, the Group was the 2015 winner of the Rental Company of the Year at the HRIA Industry Excellence Awards.
